An evolving atmosphere moving into Beta phase

We have gone back through Echo and made some more incremental improvements to the experience in this beta release. We're coming with changes to the player, monster, and environment--all to make everything more scary.

It’s here and it’s better than before. The monster has gotten the glow up it deserves with a new model, animation and AI system to sense, wander and chase players through their quest to escape. The monster will now spawn behind you for a surprise attack or wander around in search of it’s next meal. Listen closely or else it’ll give you a nasty shock. We’ve also added metronones, handy little devices to mark where you’ve been and avoid that five minute backtrack to the beginning we all dread. They’ll also provide a handy tool for marking the environment and prevent players from getting lost in the darkness. With some new ambient sounds we’ve created a creepy atmosphere for players to wander around in. Last, but not least, the final area is here to wrap up our little tale with sweet success or a bloody end. Use your new found skills to dodge the monster and make your way to freedom.

In terms of player experience, we have added controls to adjust the mouse sensitivity and the gamma so that you can tune your first person experience how you’d like. And, to make it feel more like you’re in the game, we added in variable footstep sounds and breathing, so your player will be just as scared as you are!

For the next iteration, we’ll be cleaning up any nasty bugs that crop up as well as adding final touches such as subtitles and music.
